Gas mileage for old cars?

Written by 50s Cars Guide on May 6th, 2010

What kind of gas mileage did old cars get? By old I mean OLD. As in from the the early 1900s to the 1950s? I’m just looking for a rough estimate.
Thanks for the answers. I know there are a ton of possibilities but I am just curious to hear some examples!

i didnt have a car in the 50s(i wasnt old enough), but i did have a 1956 chevy in the 60s and i got around 28 miles a gal. that wasnt bad, considering those cars were heavier then these cars today.
