1950's Cars

The aftermath of World War II was a fertile breeding ground for the sports cars of the 1950s. Everyone needs money, and Americans had plenty to spend after World War II. That in a nutshell explains the parade of new sports cars that charmed Americans in the 1950s.

Classic Cars? 1996 Chevy Impala, 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser,..?

Written by 50s Cars Guide on December 13th, 2010

Well I just turned 16, and I’m looking for a car to buy. If I really wanted to, I could probably get my parents to buy me a car for 25,000-30,000 but I don’t want my first car to be that pricy and I’ll wait a couple of years before I buy something that expensive.

Now I’m thinking of buying a car but I have no idea what I want. Since I don’t want to spend more than 15,000, I want a car that is cool and not that expensive. I could probably buy a new Ford Focus or something like that but I’d rather have an older car that has the cool look and is much cheaper than a Focus or something of its nature.

What car could I get that’s no more than 10,000 but has a stylish look. I like the 95 land cruiser because 2pac had one and I could really make it look cool and same with the Impala…what are some other cars I should look at

hold on there, classics are by definition at least 25 years old. you could get a 10 year old car for under 10k and still have money left for custom stuff. My first car was a 92 caddilac deville worth about 2k. your 16 anyway, no one hates a little kid more than one that got a brand new $20,000 car from thier parents. If you live in a city like mine, that kind of car would get keyed in High school so stick with a cheaper car. Good Luck!

Any classic car would be a cool unique ride and you’d be able to customize it to your style.

Look for any pre 1975 American built large sedan. Even Station wagons are hip these days. Old SUVs (Broncos or Suburbans) too.

a 1996 Impala is not a classic car. This is a classic Impala….

Classic cars would be a cool and unique way to go… if you get a Challenger or a ’69 Camaro you’ll be hauling ass and standing way out of the crowd. However, you’ll have to either get handy with a wrench or prepare to pay… older cars need more adjustments here and there, and also will suck gas badly.

The ’96 Impalas are awesome, but make sure you get Lojack on it… they’re popular cars with homies, and any car that’s popular with homies is also popular with thieves. They’re rockets, and parts are WAY easy to find.

I like the 90′s Land Cruisers… they’re about as well-built and reliable as it gets, and not only are they nice and comfortable inside but they’re also legitimate off-road vehicles that you could take out once in awhile for fun.
